Larnaka Praised for Sea Sport Conditions
Larnaka’s reputation for offering the ideal conditions for sea sports is well known, and the town draws in amateurs and professionals from all over the world as a result. Most recently, the town was praised by two top sea sportsmen, who gave Larnaka a ringing endorsement for its suitability for kitesurfing and sailing.
World Kitesurfing Champion Kevin Langeree from the Netherlands visited Larnaka to take part in the first Cyprus Kitesurfing Championships – King of Kite 2013 - where he was most impressed with the area: “Larnaka’s beaches are blessed with ideal conditions for this kind of sport, including flat and very safe waters as well as consistent thermal winds” he said, adding that the water was “like entering my bathtub!”
The second comments came from Easy Swissa – the Chairman of the Israel Yacht Club – who was in Larnaka for the first part of the Cyprus to Israel Regatta in September. Following the event, Mr Swissa commented: “Larnaka Bay has the best conditions for sailing races worldwide, and I say this with all sincerity, having travelled to many countries. The alternating currents, waves and wind make such competitions very interesting and Larnaka has all the requirements to become a top destination for the organisation of such international events."
A large variety of sea sports can be enjoyed in Larnaka from sailing and surfing to parasailing and diving.
