The Sporting Life in Larnaka

Sports fans are set to flock to Larnaka this summer to enjoy a series of major sporting events that make good use of two of the region’s most appealing assets – the sand and sea!

The Volleyball U21 World Championship will take place between July 23-27 on the sands of the popular Foinikoudes promenade, and will welcome a total of 128 athletes from 61 countries, who will take part in over 200 games. This is the second time that Larnaka has hosted the games, the first being 2012. More details here.

Following the success of last year’s King of the Kite kitesurfing championships, the second competition will be held on July 19 and 20 this year in Mazotos. Organised by Kahuna Surfhouse, the event will feature freestyle and freeride races, along with a special guest from the arena of international kitesurfing. More details are available here.

The first 1st Cyprus SUP CUP 2014 will also be making a splash at The Spot beach in Kiti. The event for Stand Up and Paddle boarding is organised by KiteMed with the first and third races taking place on July 6 and October 5 in Larnaka, and both professionals and amateurs can take part. The first race took place in Larnaka on July 6, and the final and third race will also take place in Larnaka on October 5. More details at:
