An Active Autumn in Larnaka
With its pleasant temperature autumn is the perfect time to become more active, and Larnaka offers plenty of opportunity to do so this season with several major sporting events.
Cyprus is celebrating ‘European Week of Sport’ with the rest of the EU during September with a host of sporting initiatives, including ‘Be Active Night 2019’. The event will feature a multitude of different sporting activities at Europe Square: tennis and beach tennis; running; cycling; obstacle course; rhythmic gymnastics; martial arts; sword-fighting; basketball; ping pong… and more! Registration is required to participate in the various races, and further information can be found here.
The open waters around Larnaka Fort welcome this annual swimming marathon once again and test the endurance of swimmers from around the world with distances of 2.5km, 5km and 7.5km, and categories for men, women, mixed relay and children (14-17 years).
The annual, international depth competition is an extreme sport that sees the hardiest divers depth diving into the sea on one breath and features three depth disciplines. (CWT, FIM, CNF).
Now an important race in the annual sporting calendar, this international marathon follows a coastal course from the Finikoudes (palm tree promenade) and attracts thousands of runners from around the world. The event includes a marathon, half marathon and races of 10, 5 and 1km. Registration is via the Marathon website / FB page.
