An Entertaining and Cultural Summer
The region of Larnaka is holding its annual summer cultural events over the next couple of months, which range from music, dance and theatre to traditional festivals in the quaint villages.
The annual Summer Festival – which takes place across the whole of July –is always a highlight in the cultural calendar with a series of high quality performances held across the town’s different stages, including big names in Greek and international entertainment. The varied programme features poetry, concerts, classical music and theatre and can be accessed here.
For an authentic and traditional island experience, take a trip to one of the region’s villages and enjoy the annual festivals, which celebrate and showcase their unique customs and are free of charge to attend.
Kiti village will hold its summer festivals on July 16 and 23, and August 8-15 with a rich cultural programme of local dance, singing and theatre.
Up in the mountainous village of Lefkara, the 34th annual Lefkara Art & Culture Festival will take place between August 13-17. Dedicated to the lace and silver crafts that the pretty village is most famous for, the event includes daytime tours and exhibitions - where you can watch the crafts being made - and an evening programme of local entertainment.
