Beach Volleyball Championship Returns
Larnaka’s sands will once again welcome a world-class beach volleyball tournament when the FIVB Beach Volleyball U19 World Championship lands on Foinikoudes beach between July 27-31, complete with international athletes and cheering crowds.
This is the third time that Larnaka and the Cyprus Volleyball Federation are hosting age-class, world championships for the sport in the town; firstly in 2012 with the U21 tournament, and again in 2014 when the U21 returned. A specially constructed court was created on Foinikoudes beach for the tournaments and has since remained a permanent fixture – seating 1000 spectators and offering fantastic views of the sea.
Aside from the thrill of the games and the seaside backdrop, the location also boasts a large variety of cafes, restaurants, bars and clubs along the length of the strip, along with cultural attractions and a large town centre parallel to the promenade. All these elements combine for a successful event that gives both athletes and spectators from around the globe the opportunity to fall in love with Larnaka whilst enjoying a first-rate sporting competition.
All the information on the event can be found on the tournament website, where updates and results will also be posted during the course of the championship.
