Bursting with Colour!
There is always something new happening in Larnaka each summer, and summer 2015 will see a very unique beach party taking place for the first time when it welcomes the ‘Larnaca Colour Day’ on July 18.
Taking place on the sands of the Foinikoudes promenade, the beach party is based on the ancient Indian tradition of ‘Holi’ – a celebration to herald the arrival of spring that also has links to ancient Indian love stories - where participants cover themselves, and each other, with bright colours!
The Larnaka party is organised by members of different youth groups from the region in cooperation with the municipality, and starts at 5pm, with the partying lasting until the early hours. Music will be provided by some of the island’s best-known DJs, and there will also be a bar.
The tickets are available in two packages; one for the under-17s that includes two bags of coloured powder and one non-alcoholic beverage (€10), and a package for the over-17s with two bags of powder and two alcoholic drinks (€15). Extra bags of coloured powder will be available to purchase on the night.
It is worth noting that the coloured powder is environmentally friendly and non-toxic, so participants can enjoy the party without fear of causing any damage to the coast and just concentrate on having a great time!
