Children’s Cultural Activities at Museum
As a compact, family-friendly town, Larnaka caters for its little friends with plenty of fun activities both on and off the sands, and this summer, the island’s rich history is the focus of two activities at the Pierides Museum.
Taking place in June and July, the museum – which was covers 9000 years of Cypriot art and houses exhibits dating back to 1839 – will be holding a role-play event and an arts and crafts session.
The first activity ‘We are Archaeologists’ is aimed at all budding archaeologists aged 9-13 years old and is a three-hour interactive programme based on the story of Goddess Astarte and her sanctuary situated in Ancient Kition (old Larnaka). Participants will learn about the science of archaeology and take part in a mock excavation where they will trace and discover a lost treasure.
The second activity is a two-hour Arts and Crafts session aimed at all ages where the children will have the opportunity to create t-shirts, pottery and sketches related to museum items, which make lovely gifts or souvenirs.
Both sessions are suitable for English or Greek speakers and cost €10. Places can be booked by contacting the Pierides Museum on: 357 2481 4555 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Website: www.pieridesfoundation.com.cy
