Events with Christmas Cheer!

Whether you are in the mood for the Christmas hustle and bustle of the town centre, or a more traditional experience in the villages or mountains, you will have no trouble filling your seasonal diary, thanks to a multitude of festive events across Larnaka region.

Larnaka town

In the spirit of bringing people together to enjoy some magic and sparkle at this time of year, Larnaka Municipality has created a programme of free events for all the family.

The main Santa’s grotto is located in charming Ermou Square, where the Larnaka Express Christmas train picks up its passengers, and regular choral performances take place on the specially set-up stage - surrounded by seasonal kiosks.

Other areas of the town centre and palm tree promenade - including Kimon and Europe Squares, and the Seafront Stage - also host various events, from entertainment to bazaars (with details on our website event calendar).

Santa’s Parade around the town centre takes place on December 16, accompanied by dance and ballet schools of the region; a sight that is equally fun for both young and old.

On December 23, 24 and 30, the town centre will be closed to traffic to allow pedestrians to shop in a relaxed atmosphere, with music and events set up throughout the town to enjoy along the way.

Larnaka villages

Several Larnaka region villages also hold larger events, with a real sense of community spirit.

Voroklini, Kiti, Athienou and Livadia in particular will all be celebrating over the Christmas period, with events added to the LTB event calendar.

Some to look out for include:

Athienou’s Christmas Avenue: Sunday, December 17, when its main commercial street - Archbishop Makarios III Avenue – will be full of festivities, music and surprises from 3-9pm.

Kiti Christmas Programme: Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 December (3pm on both days), with a programme that includes a parade, lighting ceremony, puppet theatre and various song and dance performances.
