Meet the People Behind Larnaka Tourism... Alkis Maros

The Larnaka Tourism Board is comprised of a group of people who all have a passion for Larnaka and are committed to its ongoing development and enhancement, one of whom is Mr Alkis Maros, the General Manager of Golden Bay Beach Hotel, located along the Larnaka-Dekeleia Road.

Although originally from Greece, Alkis Maros – the General Manager of the Golden Bay Beach Hotel - has made Larnaka his home for the past 30 years, and has grown to love the town as his own: “I was born in Serres in Greece and Larnaka reminds me a lot of my hometown, so I am very pleased to be able to live in such a beautiful place. I love the community spirit and hospitality of the people here. Personally, my favourite area of Larnaka is Mckenzie beach, especially for a swim.”

With over 35 years experience in the tourism sector, Alkis knows what a visitor wants out of a holiday and is confident that Larnaka ticks all the boxes, as he explains, the region has a winning combination: “Any time of the year is a good time for visitors to Larnaka because our beaches can be used in both summer and winter, and we have an excellent number of religious and historical sights, along with many other wonderful sights and activities (such as the flamingos at the Salt Lake). It’s also easy to get around the town which is important for tourists.”

In terms of the future of Larnaka, Alkis believes that the good work of the Municipality and the Larnaka Tourism Board is coming together to create a positive future: “Larnaka’s infrastructure is progressing at a great rate, along with its other projects and this is very promising. I see a wonderful future ahead for the region.”
