Popular Pyla Honours Visitors
“I’ve been coming here since 1983, and the only thing I regret is not coming sooner”.
These loveliest of words were spoken by one of the repeat visitors to Larnaka’s Pyla area during an award ceremony held by Pyla Community Council and LTB in September.
The ceremony – which honoured 10 couples from England and Ireland this time – is part of the ongoing Larnaka’s Loyal Friends scheme, whereby tourists who rack up a large number of stays at the region’s hotels are officially shown our appreciation for their continued preference with a commemorative plaque and bottle of wine.
In thanking and awarding the couples, Pyla Community Council President, Mr Simos Mytides, added that repeat visitors are particularly important as they are “the best ambassadors of our tourism”.
Pyla’s coastline is located along the stretch popularly known as Larnaka-Dekeleia Road, which is one of the main tourist areas of Larnaca city, and is continually being upgraded. The creation of pedestrian and cycle paths began this month and will be completed by the end of next year.
The LTB will continue to show its appreciation for our ‘loyal friends’, and we thank them for helping to make Larnaka region number one out of the island’s coastal cities for the highest percentage of repeat visitors (60%).
