Sand, Sea… Sport
Summer in Larnaka is synonymous with big, seasonal tournaments, including the well-established King of Kite in the sea, and international beach volleyball in the sand!
King of Kite 2017
The King of Kite 2017 (Kitesurfing Championships) will be held once again at Kahuna Surfhouse at Softades Kitesurfing Beach, with the coast of the area reputed to be the best ‘spot’ on the island to enjoy this thrilling, dare-devil sport.
The event takes place on July 16 and 17. This year’s special guest judge – ready to wow the crowds – is Aaron Hadlow; a 5x World Champion from Britain who has also won the Red Bull Big Air competition three times in a row.
The event will feature a Slalom Race and Freestyle Competition, along with fun kitesurfing race games, beach party, live DJ set, beach-themed merchandise stalls, food, drink and more. Further details can be found here.
CEV Beach Volleyball Championships
Larnaka has steadily carved itself a reputation as the ideal host for international beach volleyball tournaments, and this year, the beach volleyball court on Foinikoudes beach will welcome the European Beach Volleyball championships.
The CEV Beach Volleyball Satellite Larnaka – Women’s Tournament, and the CEV Youth Beach Volleyball Continental Cup will take place from August 03-06, with free admission for spectators.
Athletes from across Europe will come to Larnaka for the tournaments, with the town praised at past events for the facilities it offers both for the games themselves, and in the surrounding area for visitors to enjoy.
