That Festival Feelin’
Summers are synonymous with iconic festivals, and Larnaka region is no exception! Several established events return in 2019 to bring music, tradition, entertainment and good times to your summer itinerary!
Kataklysmos (Festival of the Flood) is held to mark Pentecost and is an annual water-based celebration held along the palm tree promenade Foinikoudes. Larnaka town has been celebrating Kataklysmos for over 100 years and takes centre stage on the island for its extravagant, weeklong event.
The programme of daytime and evening activities and entertainment includes water-based competitions, stalls, kiosks demonstrating local pastimes, street food, children’s fun, and premium cultural performances.
The Fengaros Festival of independent and eclectic music returns to mountainous Kato Drys village for its 9th edition. Over 40 acts will perform across three stages whilst the audience camps under the stars.
Larnaka Festival 2019 - July 1-31
The annual Larnaka Summer Festival takes place across the whole of July and offers a premier cultural programme of music, dance, theatre and other performing arts from both local and international artists. The various events are held at the Pattichion Municipal Amphitheatre, the garden theatre of the medieval fort, the marina per, Kamares aqueduct, and other historical places/cultural venues of Larnaca.
The festival has been awarded with the EFFE Label (Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe) - an EU initiative that recognises 'Europe's finest festivals'.
The individual performances will be posted on the LTB July event calendar.
Some of Larnaka region’s largest village communities also celebrate the summer with annual festivals that focus on folkloric heritage. In particular, Lefkara, Kiti and Pervolia hold August festivals. Visit the LTB event calendar for the dates and details.
