Traditional Village Celebrations for Easter Monday

The Greek Orthodox faith will celebrate Easter Sunday this year on May 01. The occasion is the biggest religious celebration on the island, with the run-up to Easter incorporating many lovely traditions, from special baked treats to unique church services.

Visitors will find that the atmosphere on the island in general is warm and joyous, and that all are welcome to attend church services, or partake in the various events. Larnaka’s rural villages are especially worth a visit during this time to experience the Easter traditions of the close-knit communities. In particular Voroklini, Kiti and Lefkara will all hold their own Easter Monday celebrations, which are complimentary to attend.
