Larnaka’s most famous shipwreck – the Zenobia – will once again be celebrated in June with the second Zenobia Festival, following the success of the pilot event last year.
Organised by the LTB, Larnaka Municipality, Cyprus Dive Centres Association and Larnaka Napa Sea Cruises, the programme will showcase the wreck of the Swedish roll-on-roll-off ferry and its underwater wealth from June 23-30 with a packed programme. Included in the festivities are a mixture of sporting/leisure activities, informative and cultural events, and contests that will highlight why the wreck ranks as one of the top 10 in the whole world!
The sporting and leisure activities include a mass dive to the Zenobia, free 45-minute trips on a glass bottom boat to view the wreck, underwater scooter demonstrations, a SUP (Stand Up and Paddle) downwinder to the wreck, and special discounts on diving sessions.
The informative and cultural events will include a lecture on ‘Artificial Reefs Management. Prospects and Benefits for Diving Tourism’, an underwater video competition with the theme ‘Zenobia Marine Life’ (with prizes), and underwater photography and art exhibitions.
