Art of Stone
If you are exploring rural Larnaka this summer, be sure to look out for Michalis Mozoras Art Gallery nestled in Kalavasos village where the local artist and musician breathes new life into humble stones and pebbles by creating unique art pieces.
Working from his courtyarded home, the sculptor uses mainly stones/pebbles – but also wood and metal - to create a variety of abstract pieces with the predominant theme of the human form.
The artist is inspired by positive values such as love, freedom, peace and the human spirit, and you will see that angels and mothers feature heavily in his stone sculptures and stone arrangements.
Michalis warmly welcomes visitors to his space and is happy to take the time to tour guests around the open-air exhibition in his garden and explain the inspiration and stories behind the eclectic arrangements and figures that grace the grounds. There are also some select pieces available for purchase, displayed in an additional indoor Art Gallery.
The gallery is located at 100 Archbishop Makarios III (just 200 metres from the village square), and you can also view Michalis' pieces at various exhibitions – both solo and group - around the island, as well as abroad.
