Love Larnaka’s Local Experiences

One of the biggest appeals of Larnaka region – as consistently voted by our visitors - is its wonderfully authentic character that is unmistakably Larnaka - Cyprus and nowhere else!

In particular, the region continues to preserve and promote many old customs, from traditional food production to folkarts, and visitors are always welcome to observe and learn about them, and even participate!

The LTB has collated some of the best local experiences to help you get started, with many of them taking place in rural and mountainous Larnaka - in some of the most picturesque villages of the region, including Choirokoitia, Lefkara, Vavla, Skarinou, Athienou, Kato Drys, Kornos, Agios Theodoros and Maroni.

Visitors can enjoy a large array of wonderfully traditional activities, with winter being a particularly good season for some of the outdoor options. At present, the directory features experiences that can be separated into three categories:

Local Food & Drink: Traditional pasta making, Cyprus sweet making (Loukoumi/delight), Halloumi cheese making, Cypriot wine tasting sessions.

Traditional Arts and Handicrafts: Basket weaving, lace making, silversmithing/filigree silver, Byzantine icon painting, adorning (Ploumistra), pottery making.

Nature Days: Seasonal harvest days, local herb cultivation, beekeeping tours, donkey rides.
