Our Beaches Are Back!

Our beaches are back and even better thanks to a host of upgrades within the third annual ‘Enriching and Greening Larnaka’s Beaches’ programme that continues to enhance our coastline.

Following the success of the previous two years, the LTB is once again initiating the programme in cooperation with local authorities and with the support of the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Tourism.

In particular, the 2020 summer season sees additional open-air gyms; benches; bicycle racks and increased greenery across several of the region’s beaches.

The pedestrian path running alongside Voroklini’s coastline continues to unfold towards Larnaka town’s seafronts to form a seamless walk that links the main beach areas. The portion that passes by LeBay Hotel is now complete.

The popular outdoor gym concept has also been expanded and the open-air exercise equipment is now back in use after a period of restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. A new outdoor gym has been created in Voroklini (in the vicinity of ‘Golden Fish’), and a second has been placed along Pervolia coast, whilst Pyla beach’s gym has new equipment for this season.

Cyclists will be pleased to hear that bicycle racks have been added at the beaches of Voroklini and Pyla, along with an increased number of benches for pitstops or to admire the scenic sea views.

New palm trees will soon be planted at Kiti beach, following the spring planting of palm trees at Kastella beach that took place in cooperation with Larnaka Municipality.

All these changes are part of ongoing efforts to keep upgrading and enriching the beach experience through a combination of aesthetic enhancements and increased facilities.

President of the LTB, Mr Dinos Lefkaritis, noted that despite the difficult period that the Covid-19 pandemic has created - and its impact on tourism this year - Larnaka region continues to forge ahead with projects that will upgrade the tourist experience whilst adjusting the action plan accordingly in light of ongoing developments.

The President of the Community Council of Voroklini, Mr Neophytos Fakontis, has also expressed his satisfaction with the progress along Voroklini’s coastline, emphasising that all health and safety measures will be taken to ensure that the outdoor gym equipment and benches are kept sanitised.

We look forward to welcoming you back to our lovely – and improved – beaches!
