Larnaka in the spring is truly a beautiful sight with its green fields and brightly coloured flowers. The weather is lovely and warm but not too hot that you cannot take a walk along the scenic salt lake, or a leisurely stroll along the promenade. And not forgetting that it is the time of year that Cypriots celebrate Easter - the Greek Orthodox religion's most important holiday. If you are lucky enough to be in Larnaka during Easter you will experience festivities, traditional church services and delicious seasonal treats. As always, there is plenty to see and do and our new, interactive kiosks will give you all the ideas and information you need for a super spring break.
First Annual General Meeting
The Larnaka Regional Tourism Body held its first Annual Meeting on February 25, 2011 with great success. In his speech to the esteemed guests (including the Minister of Tourism and the President of the CTO) the Chairman - Mr Dinos Lefkaritis - spoke of some of the worthy initiatives of 2010 and his hopes and plans for the region's future.
Bouygues Awarded for Larnaka Investments
The Board of Directors honoured the global company Bouygues Bâtiment International with an award for its investments in Larnaka and its contribution to the region's changing face. Specifically, the company is the larger shareholder in two huge investment initiatives; Larnaka Airport and the Larnaka Port & Marina development Project.
New Interactive Infokiosks
Larnaka is leading the way as the first town on the island to operate interactive, touch-screen outdoor information kiosks that will provide visitors with all the information they need to enjoy the town and its surrounding villages. As from the beginning of April 2011, there will be four infokiosks strategically placed in high-volume visitor areas of Larnaka.

Larnaka Airport: New Flight Routes and F&B Award
Larnaka Airport continues to increase its services and impress travellers with the operation of new flight routes and a prestigious F&B award. New routes from Aegean Airlines connect Larnaka with London's Heathrow and six more destinations in Greece from end March. Ryanair will operate new routes to Bologna and Dusseldorf as from April. The airline recently launched a new flight to Barcelona.
Larnaka Sees An Increase in Tourist Arrivals
Tourist arrivals to Larnaka are up by 7.5% compared to last year, and the region has the highest percentage increase compared to the rest of the island. Larnaka Regional Tourism Body would like to thank all visitors to Larnaka and pledges to continue its efforts in making Larnaka everyone's favourite destination.
Facelift Planned for Piale Pashia
As part of ongoing efforts to upgrade Larnaka, a further 'facelift' is planned following that of the creation of the recent squares. This time, it is the road of Piale Pashia that will undergo major changes. Piale Pashia is the road that continues on from the Medieval Castle and its square and leads to the beach area of McKenzie.

The Festival of The Flood (Kataklysmos)
Larnaka will once again celebrate the Festival of the Flood on June 13 with the biggest celebrations on the island. The seafront is lined with stalls selling all sorts of products including traditional goods. The daily entertainment programme includes competitions, dancing and singing. A fairground is set up on the beach and you can also watch local handicrafts being practised.
Easter Events in Larnaka Villages
Easter is one of the loveliest times of the year to visit Cyprus, and by spending Easter in Larnaka and its villages, you will get a real feel for how important and special this religious holiday is for Cypriots. This year, Easter Sunday falls on April 24. Many of the Larnaka villages are putting on public celebrations for visitors to enjoy.
New Phoenician Themed Cruise
Visitors to Larnaka can now enjoy a new cruise with a difference called 'Mystery of the Ancient Phoenicians' themed experience. This cruise shall bring the ancient Phoenicians to life in an afternoon-evening cruise full of surprises. This unique experience includes a museum visit, a cruise from the marina, rowing traditional boats, a dancing show and dinner from the Phoenician era.
