Graffiti Competition ‘Larnaka Art Project, Past-Present-Future’
The Larnaka Regional Tourism Body is organising a graffiti art competition along the Larnaka- Dhekelia road from September 18 – 19, entitled ‘Larnaka Art Project, Past-Present-Future’. The aim of the initiative is the upgrading of the area’s image with the presentation of artwork that depicts Larnaka’s rich history and culture...
Open-air Double-decker Bus Starts Routes in Larnaka City
An open-air double-decker bus company has commenced tours in Larnaka offering tourists the opportunity to see the bustling city. Tours on the ‘Love Bus’ operate four times a day and take in various sites of interest within the city. The tour lasts one hour.
The Wealth of Larnaka’s Underwater World
A luxury photographic tribute to the Zenobia wreck has been produced with the winning photographs of an underwater photo competition. The book which is a visually stunning time capsule of this world famous divers' paradise shall be presented on June 30th within the framework of the events held to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the Zenobia sinking.

UNESCO Includes Lefkara Lace on its Intangible World Heritage List
The famous handmade lace of the Lefkara village has been added to the UNESCO Intangible World Heritage List. The tradition of lace-making in Lefkara dates back to at least the 14th century and is a skill that is passed down from woman to woman in the village.
City Hotels Undergo Facelifts
Larnaka offers an exciting and varied city break all year round with plenty to see and do. Cultural and historical sites, European brand name shops, and the famous promenade ‘Phinikoudes’ - which is lined with restaurants, cafes, bars and clubs - all combine to make an interesting and lively city.
Three New Town Squares
The face of Larnaka has been changing to become more pedestrian friendly with the creation of three town squares. Saint Lazarus Square is surrounded by cafes and shops, Ermou Square is in the town centre’s main shopping streets and the Castle Square is located at the end of the ‘Phinikoudes’ promenade by the Medieval Fort.

Lefkara Musical Sundays
The mountainous village of Lefkara is holding a weekly event entitled ‘Musical Sunday’ every Sunday until October, starting from 3pm. The event – which began in March - sees the village come alive with a variety of attractions and entertainment for all the family to enjoy.
New Larnaka Airport
The new Larnaka International Airport opened its doors to the travelling public at the end of 2009 and is proving to be a great success. The second phase is to be completed in 2013 and will increase the capacity to 9 million passengers per annum with the addition of a 500 metre runway extension and 16 boarding bridges.
West End Musical
The Municipality of Larnaka will once again be bringing a world-famous London West End musical to Larnaka as part of its annual Music Festival. On July 1 & 2 ‘Oliver!’ will be played in Larnaka for two performances. The annual Larnaka Festival opens with a musical at the Pattichion Municipal Amphitheatre and follows with a series of musical events throughout the month.
