City Squares

Larnaka city centre is filled with charming squares, from the promenade to the streets of the commercial centre. Enjoy a pit-stop whilst shopping or exploring, or one of the wide array of events that take place all-year-round, from exhibitions and markets, to performances, festivals and sporting tournaments. 


Europe Square

Heralding the start of the Foinikoudes (Palm Tree) Promenade, Europe Square features the Seagulls in Flight fountain and is flanked by the old colonial buildings that now house the Municipal Art Gallery and the Larnaka Historic Archives Museum. The Zeno of Kition statue in the square is part of the Larnaka Storytelling Statues - an interactive experience to hear the monument's history.

Many events are held here throughout the year, including the grand lighting of the Christmas tree, funfairs and bazaars, as well as sporting tournaments and car shows.

Castle Squares

There are two squares surrounding Larnaka Medieval Castle (Fort). The first is in front of the castle and includes the Winged Lion of Venice Larnaka Storytelling Statue and the pier. A second square at the side of the castle bridges the area between the castle and the Kebir (Buyuk) Tzami Mosque and has benches, offering nice views of the historic architecture of contrasting civilizations.

Zouchouri Complex Square

The renovation of the Zouchouri complex - located near the Municipal Market - created a courtyard square with kiosks for the public to enjoy right in the in heart of the commercial centre. The authentic character of the original buildings has been maintained and combined with modern elements to create a charming social space.

Mediterranean Park

The Mediterranean Park located in the streets of the Larnaka Art Neighbourhoods is an artist-inspired park square with water features, benches and covered areas that embodies the artistic nature of the old Turkish Cypriot neighbourhoods of the city that are located parallel to the popular Piale Pasha coastal road.

Ermou Square

The cobbled square of the shopping streets has fountains and is lined with retail shops and an eclectic mix of cafes and bars that overlook the buzz of the square, During Christmas, this is also a main square for performances and bazaars.

Kimon Square

Kimon Square is located about mid-way along the Foinikoudes (Palm Tree) Promenade, opposite the Seafront Stage and is used for smaller markets, charity bazaars and exhibitions, including seasonal events.
