Jewish Museum Cyprus

An original 'Nissen hut' has been restored and displayed as the first open exhibit of the Jewish Museum in Cyprus in gratitude to the Cypriots who helped the Jewish refugees (primarily Holocaust survivors) who were held at the British colonial government detention camps on the island after WW2 - from August 1946 to January 1949 (during British rule on the island).

There were 12 camps that held a total of 53,510 people. Over 2,200 Jewish children were born on Cyprus soil during this time.
