Tennis first emerged in Larnaka in the 1920s and is still as popular as ever!

As one of the fastest growing and most enjoyed games in Cyprus, tennis appeals to a wide age-range, and can be practised all-year round, thanks to the favourable climate of the island. Amateurs and professionals alike can play across a large variety of clay, hard and artificial grass courts, whilst several major national, European and international tournaments are held throughout the year.

The first club to open in Larnaka was the Larnaka Tennis Club, which opened in 1958 and has expanded throughout the years to offer a total of six courts today; four clay and two hard. To get ‘in the swing’ of things, you can make an appointment with the club (located on Kilkis Street) by calling: +357 24 656 999.

The Herodotou Tennis Academy was founded in September 2004 and is located in the Meneou-Pervolia area. Its facilities include five hard courts, two mini-tennis courts, two training walls, a gym, a lecture room with the latest technology, and a cafeteria.

Tennis facilities are also available at the old Larnaka GSZ football stadium, which is now a modern sports facility. The stadium is located opposite the fountain roundabout and can be contacted on: +357 70 003 003.
