Larnaka Municipality is holding its annual Tsiknopempti celebration with all welcome to enjoy complimentary bites, wine and Zivania (traditional Cypriot spirit).

The tradition is also known as 'Stinky Thursday' or 'Smoky Thursday' in English due to the smoke and aroma of grilled and charcoaled meat that fills the air on this day when it is customary to eat meat for the Carnival period and before Lent starts on Green Monday (February 27 this year).

The municipal event will take place in the city centre in the small square by the Larnaka Storytelling Statue of artist Michalis Kashalos. Visitors to the centre will find that many of the shops also partake in the tradition.
