Upgrading Beaches for 2023
Upgrades at Larnaka's organised beaches are ongoing under the ‘Enriching and Greening Larnaka Beaches’ programme, with works carried out throughout the year to ensure that each new tourist season offers a complete beach experience.
Preparation for the 2023 season began at the end of 2022 with several projects completed. This will continue during winter and spring with the aim to continually add to the aesthetic and facilities at the region’s beaches.
At Voroklini's Yiannades (Goldfish) Beach along Larnaka-Dekeleia Road, a colourful new sand playground with park toys was installed, complete with shading to ensure that little ones can enjoy playing even in the heat of day. Palm trees were also added by the coastal walkway of the area, enhancing the path that is popular for sea view strolls.
Additional palm trees were also planted at the Larnaka Kitesurfing Beach (along the coastline of Kiti-Meneou), creating a green backdrop for the kitesurfing tournaments that take place at this spot thanks to its optimum conditions for the sport. The planting will continue in spring 2023.
At the central Foinikoudes (Palm Tree) Beach, the sand sport courts were given a complete overhaul, adding new enclosures, eco lighting and sport-suitable sand at the main court and the six supplementary training courts. The courts are free-of-charge to use for beach volleyball, tennis and football and also host a plethora of national and international tournaments.
Further beach upgrades scheduled to complete by spring 2023 are:
Pyla coastline of Larnaka-Dekeleia Road: outdoor fitness equipment at the family-friendly beach, along with two new sand courts (for beach volleyball and tennis) on the coastline of the main tourist area.
Voroklini coastline of Larnaka-Dekeleia Road: outdoor fitness equipment near the coastal path and new steps leading down to the beach. A new sand court for beach soccer will be created next to the existing beach volleyball court at the beach adjacent to Lebay Hotel.
We look forward to welcoming you to a Larnaka region beach this coming season!
