A New Green Retreat

The Patticheio Municipal Park has always been Larnaka city’s green retreat, popular with walkers and joggers for its winding nature trails that are part of the wider environs of Larnaka Salt Lake, and the Municipal Amphitheatre nestled in its centre, hosting premium events under the stars.
Following extensive renovations, the park recently opened its gates again, revealing an upgraded leisure spot for all the family - fully accessible to pedestrians, cyclists and disabled persons.
What’s new?
The existing trails have been landscaped and expanded, taking walkers and joggers further into the leafy heart of the forest area, including through a fragrant botanical garden. New trails have been added, rising and dipping to different levels, with the highlight being the circular bridge walkway that takes in panoramic views across the park and Salt Lake. And with two new observations decks, this is the perfect place to view the lake, which is famous not only for its flocks of flamingos during winter, but also for its fiery sunsets that set the sky ablaze.
Facilities have been enhanced or added: public conveniences, a café-restaurant, children’s playground, lighting, fencing and urban furniture, whilst the amphitheatre itself was also given a make-over.
The project - which began in 2023 - will be officially inaugurated in late autumn (details will be posted on our website calendar), and comes under the ‘THALIA 2021-2027’ cohesion policy programme, co-funded by the European Union.
