New Branding Presented for Larnaka Tourism
Larnaka Tourism Board presented its new branding at a launch event held on May 31, 2024 unveiling a new identity that reflects the authentic character of the region through an overarching theme of sustainability and an ethos of adopting sustainable practices in tourism and its development.
A focus on providing authentic experiences is intertwined with warm hospitality and respect for its visitors, whilst the preservation and promotion of the region’s rich history and traditions - with an emphasis on local gastronomy – are key.
The new identity is an evolution from the previous campaign that honed in on both visitors and flamingos returning to the region year-after-year. This sense of returning to a destination that feels familiar has been taken one step further with the slogan ‘Welcome Back’, and a logo that features colours representing Larnaka’s defining elements, and a flamingo in flight to symbolise continuous return to the region. ‘Welcome Back’ captures the feeling that new visitors will have of a destination that instantly feels like home, and the ‘home-away-from-home’ bond with the destination that return visitors cherish.
In presenting the new corporate identity, Chairman of Larnaka Tourism Board, Mr Dinos Lefkaritis, outlined the evolution of tourism in Larnaka region in recent years and how it is now offering an improved, complete tourism product, emphasising the role of the region’s stakeholders: “This new chapter for Larnaka’s tourism product would not be possible without the support and valuable contribution of the entrepreneurs who invest in our region’s tourism offering; the local authorities – who are active in improving the tourism product - and the dedicated personnel of the sector who are the driving force of the industry.”
The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr Kostas Koumis, hailed the rebranding as more than just a new logo or slogan, calling it “a collective effort and willingness for new beginnings… to be embraced by all who make up the tourism ecosystem of the island”.
In their turn, Larnaka Mayor, Mr Andreas Vyras, and President of Larnaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI), Dr Nakis Antoniou, both gave addresses and reiterated their commitment to the mutually beneficial cooperation enjoyed with the tourism board for the enrichment of Larnaka as a tourist destination.
The creation of the new identity is the result of close cooperation and consultations between the tourism board's Marketing Committee; the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, UCLan Cyprus -which prepared a study for the creation of the branding manual by the university, and Communications group, DELEMA McCaNN Cyprus, who were responsible for the concept and creatives.
Larnaka’s experiential providers are an integral part of the region’s tourism product and were also present at the event to showcase their activities and experiences, which span authentic gastronomy, water sports, historical attractions, guided tours, sports and leisure, and folkloric handicrafts.
The experiential activity providers who took part were presented under the slogan ‘Welcome Back’ with the themes:
