Site Visits in Cyprus Concluded for ‘Go For Vet’ Project of the Erasmus+ Programme
Partners of the ‘Go For Vet’ project of the Erasmus+ programme met in Larnaka, Cyprus for the second transnational meeting and site visits in the first week of October, analysing the culture of internships in Cyprus and the island’s prospects for employment for persons with a disability.
The visit was hosted by Cyprus partner Larnaka Tourism Board from October 3-5 and split between the administrative issues of the project and site visits spanning Larnaka region and the island’s capital Nicosia.
Present were representatives from Zespół Szkół Ponadpodstawowych nr 1 w Krotoszynie and Dobre Kadry (Poland); the Institute of Citizen's Sustainable Development and Health (Greece), and Ankkapurhan kulttuurisäätiö (Finland).
During the traditional part of the meeting, the results and conclusions of in-depth interviews with persons relevant to each of the four professions included in the project (hotel industry / hospitality; photography and multimedia; logistics and veterinary) were presented by each partner for discussion and an exchange of ideas, along with next steps of the project and task allocation.
For the site visits, the partners met with experts in the fields of tourism and hospitality and education, and employers of persons with a disability, as well as with staff from the island’s school for the blind, with each offering a different perspective on vocational internships and employment.
The project (number 2022-1-PL01-KA121-VET-000065006) started on March 1, 2023 and will conclude on October 31, 2024. The five partners will work together to strengthen the potential of VET providers to implement vocational international traineeships under Erasmus + (2021-2027).
This will be achieved by developing and implementing new Learning Agreement programmes for the four professions, as well as the development of recommendations and good practices in the field of inclusion of students with a disability into international vocational mobility projects under the Erasmus+ programme.
With site visits already concluded in Poland and Cyprus, the next partner meetings and site visits will take place in Greece and Finland, completing the research required to adapt the Learning Agreements.
