Groves & Orchards
Agios Theodoros Village Orchard
The community excursion area 'The Village Orchard' in Agios Theodoros village has public picnic benches and welcomes visitors to sit under the shade of the citrus trees, and also taste the fruit of the orchard, as a gesture of hospitality by the Community Council. A popular pitstop whilst exploring the village that is built on the banks of the Pentaschinos river with its gorge surrounded by fragrant citrus valleys, and is also a coastal village.
Located in the lush mountainous of Lefkara village, the sprawling grounds of this estate are home to olive groves and fruit orchards. The estate is open to visitors who can enjoy a wander through the beautiful green surroundings and and learn more about the history and tradition of olive cultivation on the island. The large specialist shop sells pure organic olive oil products and other authentic items, with sampling available.
Gardens & Parks
Lumina Botanical Gardens, Kornos
Nature-themed activities at the botanical gardens, including oil distillation demonstrations, crafts and decoration making, workshops using herbs and plants, natural cosmetic making and local products. Seasonal events also held (Green Monday, Halloween, Christmas, and other).
Located at the start of Larnaka - within the boundaries of Aradippou Municipality - the protected area of 97 hectares is included within the European Natura 2000 network and has over 100 plant species and varieties, including very rare ones that have been spotted here for the first time in Cyprus.
Visitors can walk or cycle the nature trails and there is a picnic area with covered wooden picnic benches and food preparation areas; a children's play area; cafeteria with outdoor seating that overlooks sweeping views; public restrooms; observation points, benches with views, and an Instagrammable photo spot (wings) sponsored by Larnaka Tourism Board.
The Patticheio complex (natural park and Municipal amphitheatre) is set in forest grounds parallel to the Larnaka Salt Lake as a wider part of its environs, separated from the salt lake in the 1980’s, and in order to protect the rare Cyprus flora that grows there. An extensive network of pedestrian paths were constructed at the time, with the latest, extensive upgrades currently underway, which will create additional nature trails, observatory, cafe, public conveniences and enhanced access to the amphitheatre.
