Hat-trick of Awards for LTB at Cyprus Tourism Awards
Larnaka Tourism Board is delighted to have won three awards at the Cyprus Tourism Awards that took place on April 12, 2022 in the following categories:
Gold Award in the Category: 5.2 Mobile Presence: Mobile app, mobile marketing actions etc. for the project ‘Larnaka Storytelling Statues’ in collaboration with Youth Board of Cyprus-Youth Makerspace Larnaka.
Silver Award in the Category: 1.3 Technology enhanced concept, product, service, experience for the project ‘Ancient Port of Kition Virtual Reconstruction’ in collaboration with Youth Board of Cyprus-Youth Makerspace Larnaka.
Bronze Award in the Category: 8.3 Virtual Travel/Experiences for the project ‘Larnaka Virtual Museums’.
The three projects come under the umbrella of the ‘Virtual Larnaka’ innovations that were created in response to the tech-savvy traveller, but also as a way to bridge the distance between Larnaka and its visitors during the Covid-19 pandemic, bringing the region’s attractions to homes during lockdowns and travel restrictions.
This ethos echoed the theme of the 2021 awards, which the organisers said “celebrate the spirit, the determination and the resilience of a market ravaged by the pandemic to survive, to innovate, to enhance its offering and to win the hearts and minds of visitors, both locally and abroad, with high-quality services, novel products, and unparalleled customer focus.”
Chairman of LTB, Mr Dinos Lefkaritis thanked everyone involved for their support in the pioneering projects and added that despite the challenging times, LTB continues to establish Larnaka region in the modern era of the tech-savvy traveller through these and other innovative experiences.
We are thrilled to have received the accolades and will be expanding upon the success of these projects with additional museums being added to the Larnaka Virtual Museums platform; further monuments joining the Larnaka Storytelling Statues family; the creation of virtual diving routes; the virtual reconstruction of other archaeological sites, and more initiatives on the way!
