The projects that Larnaka Tourism Board is participating in under the EU’s Erasmus+ programme have been actively disseminated through recent workshops, training materials and partner meetings. 

SAFEHOST 

The newest project that Larnaka Tourism Board is participating in - SAFEHOST - has set off to a good start with the creation of various materials, including template guidelines in all partner languages and the completion of the project website.

The project's objective is to train hospitality professionals to recognise and respond to gender-based violence, ensuring that ‘a safe stay should be a given. Not a gamble’. The comprehensive website will provide ongoing progress updates and host the project deliverables: baseline research, digital empowerment, capacity building & training for the hospitality sector, and safe referral & emergency accommodation mechanisms.

H.I.R.E 

A training seminar for the Deaf community in Cyprus was held on September 1, 2026, following the training workshops held for hotels in April 2026 for H.I.R.E (‘Hotel Inclusive Recruitment Education’), which aims to effectively support employers in the hotel industry with an emphasis on hiring mature people aged 50+ and Deaf persons.   

The event was a great success with the participation of 50 attendees from across Cyprus, mainly from Larnaka and Limassol, and was held in cooperation with the Institute ‘Ταξιδι στην Σιωπη’. 

The seminar - supported by two interpreters to ensure full accessibility and effective communication - created an important opportunity for discussion, exchange of views, and direct engagement with participants. 

During the seminar, the project’s employment offer was also presented to participants for review and feedback. Their comments and suggestions provided valuable insight and will help support the further development and improvement of the initiative.  

SenDiTour 

The Cypriot sign language videos by Larnaka Tourism Board have now been completed, comprising part of the project’s travel Sign Language Dictionary (also with English, Greek and Polish sign languages) with over 200 words included!

The syllabus for the training workshop for Deaf persons, and the workshop materials for preparing visually impaired persons for travel have also been completed and are pending the organisation of the respective workshops. 

The SenDiTour project has the aim of the ‘participation in tourism as an effective form of increasing the educational and social activity of people with a sensory disability’.
