Larnaka Tourism Board joined a new EU project recently, and also hosted the TPM for one of the two projects currently running.
New Project: SafeHost
The kick-off meeting for new project SafeHost: Enhancing Early GBV Detection in the Hospitality Sector took place in May in Nicosia.
The project is funded by the European Union’s CERV Programme and comprised of partners from Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Spain, and Denmark,
The aim of the project is to advance the early detection and support of gender-based violence in the hospitality sector through staff training, hotel partnerships, and innovative digital solutions and promote human dignity, equality, and the safety of the most vulnerable.
Transnational Partner Meeting for SendiTour
The third TPM of the SeniDiTour project took place on May 24-26, 2026, hosted by Larnaka Tourism Board.
During the three-day meeting, the project progress and deliverables were discussed in detail, with the project smoothly on track with the Sign Language Dictionary, workshops for Deaf and Blind persons, and the testing phase.
On day two, we were honoured to welcome Christos Misos - the first totally blind competitive archer from Cyprus; Cypriot World Champion para-archer and World No. 1 in the VI1 category, along with Mrs Yiota Armeni, President of the Local Welfare Association for the Blind (Livadia, Voroklini, Pyla, Kelia, Troulloi). A very fruitful discussion was held regarding the obstacles that blind persons face for travel and tourism, with many valuable insights.
H.I.R.E
The H.I.R.E (‘Hotel Inclusive Recruitment Education’) project continues with its aims. Larnaka Tourism Board and Sandy Beach Hotel - as Cyprus partners of the project - held training workshops on April 7-8, 2026 with over 40 participants from the region's hotels. Participants explored the realities of today’s working demands, gaining knowledge regarding the challenges faces by 50+ and Deaf/hard-of-hearing individuals in the job market, and on inclusive working environments.
