Exciting Plans for 2024
With the new year here, new goals have been set via the LTB Annual Action Plan that outlines all the projects and innovations planned for Larnaka region.
Regular visitors to Larnaka will know that each season brings something new, and this is based on the plan set out each January that carefully considers what will benefit the region for residents and tourists; split into different categories.
Enhancing traditions and cultural and historical landmarks - and finding new ways to promote them - is one of the ongoing goals. This year it is planned to contribute to the restoration and preservation of the 'Faros' lighthouse in Pervolia and three Colonial fountains in Tochni, as well as supporting the forthcoming Fishing Museum in Zygi. Lighting the quaint Profitis Ilias (Prophet Elias) Chapel in Voroklini at night is also planned and will enhance this gem that affords stunning sea and hillside views, whilst a very interesting and unique new project about the myths and legends of rural Larnaka will be launched. In Larnaka city a sculpture park with works by the artists of the Larnaka Art Workshops Neighbourhood will complete this popular art area.
The promotion and enrichment of the rural and mountainous communities is a key feature in the Annual Action Plan. In Agios Theodoros it is proposed to create a 'village farm' for visitors with Cypriot farm animals, local greenery and traditional products. An additional themed nature trail will be created in the Rural Larnaka Honey Villages, and in Lefkara, Athienou and Kiti the defining characteristics of each community will be incorporated into urban furniture designs.
The highly popular Instagrammable Photo Spots found at locations with snap-worthy views across the region will continue to grow. For 2024 a new photo bench with a view is earmarked for Choirokoitia, which already has a wooden, cubic viewpoint bench. Another initiative that is built upon each year is the 'Enriching and Greening Larnaka's Beaches' programme which this year - among other actions - will include upgrading the seaside park along Pyla's coastline.
We are also excited to reveal that LTB’s branding is being given a complete make-over with a new logo and slogan in the works! Watch this space for more news in spring 2024!
There is more in the pipeline of course, which we will post updates on throughout the year as each milestone and project is achieved, but we are certain that you will enjoy discovering all that 2024 will bring to Larnaka!
