Autumn is bursting with traditional festivals in the rural and mountainous communities, and all with free admission! 

Melini Children’s Honey Festival – September 20, 2026 

The Children's Honey Festival in Melini village (part of the Rural Larnaka Honey Villages) is focused on teaching children about bees in a fun way, and takes place with the participation of all the villages that share this 'sweet' tradition. 

The event includes children's workshops (making bee hotels and crafts with beeswax and recyclable material), honey treat sampling, stalls of related products, educational info on bees and their life cycle, live music and dance, meet-and-greet with beekeepers, and more! 

Festival of Tradition & Culture – October 1, 2026 

Organised by the Women’s Association of Rural Larnaka (WARL), the region’s largest traditional festival takes place at a different village each year, and with a different theme relating to traditional gastronomy and folkloric customs.  

This year’s festival will take place in Skarinou, centred around 'rural aromas – taste of milk’, with WARL members from 27 different villages taking part! Expect kiosks laden with handmade and traditional products, folkloric entertainment, a variety of gastronomy demonstrations and workshops, food sampling and children's activities. 

Kato Drys Traditional Festival – October 4, 2026 

Kato Drys annual traditional festival uniquely focuses on preserving and reviving its culture and heritage. 

Aside from a packed programme of enogastronomy demonstrations and entertainment, there will also be an exhibition of olden-day wedding dresses and a reenactment of a traditional wedding procession through the streets. 

Another tradition that will be showcased is the custom of ‘The Wishes Tree’ whereby visitors can make their vows, wishes or prayers (‘tamatas’) and tie a piece of cloth on the old terebinth tree by the Chapel of Saint Georgios for the Saint to grant them. 

8th Pancyprian Festival of Athienou Products -  October 11, 2026

Athienou community has one of the richest gastronomical heritages on the island, and this is presented and celebrated at the annual products festival that brings all its flavours together under one event.

In particular, the community is known for its bread and baking (thanks to its wheat production), dairy products (including Halloumi cheese), eggs, nuts, spoon sweets and preserves, and the wedding biscuit 'Lokoumi' (included on the Cyprus UNESCO National Intangible Cultural Heritage List).

The event features kiosks of products, food sampling and cooking demonstrations, live entertainment and children’s activities.
