Fun Family Activities in the City
Larnaka is known as a destination that offers fun and family-friendly holidays. Adding to this summer’s choice of activities is a new trail hunt map to find the city’s talking statues and learn their history in an interactive way.
The Larnaka Storytelling Statues is an award-winning series of statues, busts and monuments that ‘talk’ to visitors in character narration when the corresponding QR code is scanned on a mobile device.
The new printable or downloadable map brings the monuments together for a city tour on foot that challenges inquisitive minds to guess and find the character based on a fun riddle then tick it off the map.
Whilst searching along the promenade and commerical centre there are several other experiences that can also be enjoyed as a family. Aside from the Blue Flag beach, water sports, sand playgrounds, boat rides and arcade games at the seafront, a variety of cultural attractions are nestled in the city streets, including Larnaka Medieval Castle - with its legends of old; the tactile (and sometimes icky) Kyriazis Medical Museum, historical treasures at the Pierides Museum – Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation, Archaeological Museum of the Larnaka District and the Larnaka Historic Archives Museum, and creativity at the Larnaka Art Workshops Neighbourhood.
And don’t forget to stop and take a photo at the flamingo cut-outs!
