A Year of Successful European Programmes
Larnaka Tourism Board’s activity in the EU’s Erasmus+ Programme projects continued with pace in 2024 with eight projects that aimed to engage projects that enhance different aspects of tourism in the region.
Several projects were successfully concluded and yielded results, whilst new ones were added.
New Projects
H.I.R.E: The ‘Hotel Inclusive Recruitment Education’ project is comprised of partners from Cyprus, Greece and Poland and aims to effectively support employers in the hotel industry in solving the problems of staff gaps through educational tools, and with an emphasis on hiring persons with disability and mature people aged 50+. The project kicked off in December 2024.
Tourism for Sensory Disabilities: The ‘Participation in tourism as an effective form of increasing the educational and social activity of people with a sensory disability’ project is comprised of partners from Cyprus, Greece and Poland and aims to increase the motivation of a group of people with sensory disability to actively participate in tourism, and thus increase their educational and social activity. The project kicked off in December 2024.
MAAS: The ‘Match, Attain and Sustain: New Methods for Europe’s Job Brokers Supporting Tourism Businesses, Ukrainian Refugees and Job Seekers’ project that aims to meet the labour market needs of the tourism sector via the training of employment counsellors, with a parallel topic of emphasising support for Ukrainian refugees proceeded well in its first year, with the Community of Practice Workshops and Transnational Meetings yielding positive progress.
Carbon Neutral Agrotourism Communities: Larnaka Tourism Board is lead partner for the project alongside the Larnaca & Famagusta Districts Development Agency. Part of the European LEADER/CLLD - Elard programme, it aims to involve local actors in rural areas in the development of their own regions by forming Local Actions Groups (LAGs) and designing and implementing strategies.
Concluded Projects
Rural Women’s Club: The project concluded in June. Project results included the creation of three case study reports.
ESTour: The project concluded in June. Project results included the creation of an e-learning training programme (interested parties can sign up to participate here).
Go4Vet in Erasmus+: The project concluded in September. Project results included the creation of Learning Agreements and a recommendations guide.
QUEST: The project concluded in October. Project results included the creation of a flexible Learning Programme, an e-learning platform, policy and cooperation methodology and agreement, and a comprehensive manual summarising QUEST methodology, learning programme, activities and results.
