EU Programme Seasonal Update



Larnaka Tourism Board participates in various projects of the Erasmus+ programme of the EU with the aim of improving tourism in different ways, including access, employment and training. The focus of current projects is persons in underrepresented groups (refugees, mature persons and Deaf persons).
The partners of the MAAS project met in Warsaw, Poland for the 4th TPM (Transnational Partners Meeting) on May 26 & 27. The various work packages were covered, including analysis of the report consolidating the results of the interviews undertaken for the User Validation & Testing, and an update with feedback and a timeline for the Technical Specification & Production and Beta Testing. Newsletter 3 will also be published.
The first TPM for the H.I.R.E (Hotel Inclusive Recruitment Education) project was held in March. The partners have since forged ahead with the creation of core materials for the project, including the in-depth Dissemination Package, project leaflet, the first newsletter, and the creation of a Guide for Hotel Managers and Teams, and workshops/training sessions for hotel managers. The aims of the project are to effectively support employers in the hotel industry in solving the problems of staff gaps through educational tools, with an emphasis on hiring Deaf persons and mature people aged 50+.
The SenDiTour (Tourism for Sensory Disabilities) project, that aims to facilitate the participation of people with a sensory disability in tourism as an effective form of increasing the educational and social activity, also held its first TPM in March. The project materials underway include: a practical guide for preparing blind and visually impaired travellers for active participation in tourism, the first newsletter, a comprehensive Dissemination Package, and the creation of workshops.
