Progress for EU Programme Participation



Larnaka Tourism Board’s participation in EU programmes continues to enhance training and tourism prospects as existing projects progress and new ones are added.
The partners of the MAAS project have been interviewing Ukrainian refugees, tourism personnel and job brokers for the Validation Process phase. A report with the insights from this end-user target audience will assist to adapt the deliverables and ensure their suitability and success. Larnaka Tourism Board completed its validation interviews, which included four Ukrainian refugees living in Cyprus, and two key figures in the Cyprus tourism industry with extensive experience in travel and tours.
The next Transnational Partner Meeting is also set to take place in Poland in May.
Two new Erasmus+ programme projects - H.I.R.E and SendiTour - also started in December 2024.
H.I.R.E (Hotel Inclusive Recruitment Education) is comprised of partners from Cyprus, Greece and Poland. The aims of the project are to effectively support employers in the hotel industry in solving the problems of staff gaps through educational tools, with an emphasis on hiring persons with disability and mature people aged 50+.
So far the Desk Research has been completed, and the first Transnational Partners Meeting (in March).
SendiTour (Tourism for Sensory Disabilities) is comprised of partners from Cyprus, Greece and Poland. The project has the aim of the participation in tourism as an effective form of increasing the educational and social activity of people with a sensory disability.

Aside from the Erasmus+ programme projects, LTB has also been lead partner for the Carbon Neutral Agrotourism Communities project alongside the Larnaca & Famagusta Districts Development Agency, which concludes end of March 2025 with the presentation of the project results.
In January 2025 a training workshop 'Climate Neutral Agrotourism Communities in Larnaka' was held in Ora village, organised by Larnaka Tourism Board and Larnaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and with the participation of Community Council heads and representatives; business people and other stakeholders. The workshop introduced the project and highlighted the importance of climate neutrality and circular economy through presentations from experts as well as interactive examples such as air quality checks.
The project is part of the European LEADER/CLLD - Elard programme that aims to involve local actors in rural areas in the development of their own regions by forming Local Actions Groups (LAGs) and designing and implementing strategies.
